Why is my mini split not responding to the remote? ›

If the remote still doesn't respond after you've checked for obstructions and ensured you're within range, the next step is to inspect the batteries. Dead or weak batteries are one of the most common reasons for remote control failure.

The remote will show whether the unit is in Cool, Heat, Fan, or Dry/Dehumidify mode by displaying a symbol (icon) at the top of the remote display. Cool Mode: Snowflake symbol. Heat Mode: Sun symbol. Fan Mode: Fan symbol (circle with fan blades inside it) Dry/Dehumidification: Rain Drop symbol.

Mini split auto mode will allow your system to change fan speed based on the weather and your temperature setting. So, be sure to use auto mode, it's the best setting for mini split efficiency!

Replace the batteries according to the polarity markings on the battery compartment. The air conditioner may not respond to remote commands even if the batteries have been inserted correctly. This could be due to dirt or clogging that is preventing the remote from working properly.

Try completly resetting your Bluetooth remote. Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it's led flashes four times. Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.

Why would a mini split stop working? ›

Check Your Batteries Are The Right Way Round

If it still doesn't work even after inserting the batteries the correct way, there could be dirt or a blockage between the batteries and the metal contacts.

If the batteries are inserted correctly but the Carrier AC still doesn't accept commands from the remote control, there might be dirt or blockage preventing the remote control from working correctly. Remove the batteries from inside the chamber and inspect the metal contacts of the battery chamber.
