Before you post your gear, do a thorough inspection of it to ensure it’s going to be of value to someone. For example, if you’ve hit thousands upon thousands of balls with your paddle and it has dead spots on it, be sure to make that clear in your listing. Inspect the grip to see how worn it is. If the cushioning is gone, make a note of it. Some players are happy to refurbish items, so it could be of value to someone.
To give buyers a better idea of the condition of your equipment, use terms such as “like new” if it’s only been used a few times and has no cosmetic flaws; “gently used” if it is showing some light wear; and “used” if you’ve spent many hours on it and definitely appears to have experienced some intense matches.

Things to consider when buying used pickleball paddles
One the first consideration in purchasing a used paddle is its condition. Be sure to inquire about dead spots before you make a purchase. Do you want a grip that is in perfect condition or do you mind refurbishing it yourself? If you’re a stickler about cosmetics, you’ll probably want to search for “new” or “like new” paddles. Look carefully at the photos for any cosmetic flaws.
You’ll also want to make sure you’re getting the right head size, and more importantly - grip size. Most paddles are sized between 4 and 4.5-in in circumference. That doesn’t seem like much, but it definitely matters.
Weight is also an important factor. Paddles range from 6 to 14 ounces. Weight is important because it factors in to how the paddle feels as you swing it, so it’s really about comfort level. A heavy paddle can be fatiguing when used for prolonged periods, so unless you’re fit enough for a 14 ounce paddle, stay in the lower weight ranges.
If you’re loyal to a particular brand, you’ll want to consider that as you shop. If you’re unsure of what to purchase and want a quality paddle, some of the highest rated manufacturers today include Encore, Elite Pro, Poach, Gamma Needle, Onix, ProLite, Selkirk and Pro Kennex.
Finally, if you want to play with a regulation paddle, it must be 8 inches wide and 15 ¾ inches long.
Buying old pickleball paddles, worth it?
If you are not sure if you like the game (trust me you will), don’t throw a bunch of money on a brand new paddle. And a little advice to beginners: Don't be quick to buy a 'pro' paddle!
