MONDAY

Super Explorers Camp

The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold its Super Explorers Summer Day Camp for Senior Explorers (ages 9-12) July 15-19. Super Explorers is a science and nature day camp based in Jackson Morrow Park at the Kirkendall Nature Center. The camp runs from 9 a.m. until noon each day. The cost is $25 per child per session. New Baby Bunch

Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., July 15. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblings are welcome to join also.

Galaxy Camp

Go Wild Outside with the Kokomo Howard County Public Library on Mon., July 15, from 10-11 a.m. Taking place at the library’s Russiaville branch, 305 Mesa Dr., each camp combines outdoor play, exploration, and hands-on activities, ensuring children have ample opportunities to develop their problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. This event is designed for children ages 0-5.

Water Warriors

Water Warriors, offered by the Kokomo Family YMCA, is the ultimate swim skills camp. Hone your skills in this two-week swim camp from July 15-26 focused on technique, mastering different strokes, and taking your swim game to another level. At the end of the swim camp, celebrate with your new Water Warrior T-shirt! Serious swimmers ages 6 to 18 may sign up for this skills camp. Sew Much

Teens and adults can drop in to learn sewing or quilting basics or get help with their projects at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Sew Much event on Mon., July 15, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and from 4-7 p.m. Sewing machines provided. This event takes place at the library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road.

Recreation Adventure Program

The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Recreation Adventure Program Monday through Friday, July 15-19, from noon until 5 p.m. in Highland Park, 1801 Country Club Dr. Enjoy arts and crafts, games, storytelling, special events, sports and physical fitness. Adult Technology Camp

The Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Digital Den, 220 N. Union St., will hold Adult Technology Camp each Tuesday through July 29. In each weekly class from 3-4 p.m., they will teach technology basics. On July 15, they will teach Cricut Design Space basics. On July 22, they will teach 3D printing basics. Bug Appetit

Miniature Painting

Kokomo Park Band Concerts

The summer season for the Kokomo Park Band runs every Wednesday in June and July at the stage in Highland Park. Incoming eighth graders and freshmen are encouraged to take advantage of an opportunity provided by Kokomo Schools and Indiana University Kokomo. Ignite Your Future Camp will take place on July 22-24 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. daily at IU Kokomo, 2300 S. Washington St. Participate in a three-day summer learning experience, featuring hands-on activities to dig into your interests and aptitudes, explore potential career paths, and learn how to gain college-ready skills. Smiles, Scavenge, Scroll

Join Kokomo Urban Outreach on Sat., July 20, at Elite Banquet Hall, 2820 S. Lafountain St., for Smiles, Scavenge, Scroll. The event runs from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Enjoy a Selfie Museum from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Take part in a scavenger hunt for adults only from 5:30-7 p.m. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 10 and under for the Selfie Museum. Junk Journal Summertime Fun

Visit the Kokomo Art Association this summer to make an altered junk journal. On Sat., July 20, bring your mothers, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, sisters, and BFFs to the Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Hoosier Warrior Fest

The Hoosier Warrior Fest Car and Bike Show will take place at the Galveston Community Center, 101 Park Road, Galveston, on July 20. The festival begins at noon. Judging begins at 4 p.m., and awards will be given at 8 p.m. There will be class awards, dash plaques for the first 100 entrants, a 50/50 drawing, live music, raffles, door prizes, food trucks, a beer tent, and fireworks after dark. Carver Robotics Club Call-Out

The Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., is currently accepting registrations to join the Carver Robotics Club. The club is a group of children, mentored by leaders who will help them, starting with a concept, to design, build, and program a robotic device that can perform a specific task. The Howard County Department of Child Services will hold a Back to School event on Tue., July 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. Open to all Howard County students entering K-12, the event will provide school supplies, information, and ticket vouchers for a Kokomo Jackrabbits game. Students must be present with an adult. FIN-tastic Shark Party

Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian Tour

Grab your teacher friends and family and head to Rhine Hall Entertainment Venue, 507 N. Union St., on Fri., July 26, for the Kokomo Funniest Comedian Tour. The event is paired with a school supply drive. Tickets are $20, but teachers receive a $5 discount. Patrons who bring a new school supply to donate receive a $5 drink ticket. The show features comedians Dan West, Cavin Eggleston, Jacob Harter, Alexa Eden, and Clint Spar. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m. This is a 21+ event. Photo and Architectural Design

The Kokomo Art Association is hosting a photo and architectural exhibit now through July 26 at Artworks, 210 N. Main St. The exhibition features “40.47308 N, 86.12829 W Haynes to Chrysler Kokomo Casting Plant” by Corrin Lawson and Alexander Toms. Embark on a visual journey through stunning photographs and architectural design that reveal the beauty amidst the decay at the old Chrysler Casting Plant.

Reach Youth Summer

Turning Point A System of Care’s Reach Youth program invites kids ages 12-17 to experience activities all summer long. Join Reach Youth as they visit museums, workout at the Kokomo Family YMCA, build relationships, enjoy educational opportunities, and participate in various activities, such as kickball, volleyball, and other outdoor games. Galveston VFD Open House

The Galveston Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate its 90th anniversary with an open house at 101 E. Jackson St. on Sat., July 27, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Meet the volunteers. See the apparatus displays. Lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Young America Lions Club will offer ice cream, and the Lewis Cass Band will offer elephant ears. Dog Days of Summer

The Kokomo Humane Society will hold a Dog Days of Summer fundraising event on Sat., July 27, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be fun activities, delicious food, and plenty of furry friends to meet. Rain date is Sun., July 28.

Indiana Sprint Week Darland Classic

The Indiana Sprint Week Darland Classic will take place at the Kokomo Speedway, 10914 Cannondale Ct., on Sat., July 27. Races feature non-wing 410 Sprints and USAC National Sprint Cars and Midgets. Chipping for Ear Tipping

Kokomo Community Cats (KCC) will host its second annual golf tournament fundraiser on Sun., Aug. 27 at Chippendale Golf Course, 1047 Golf Course Lane. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration deadline is July 31. Cost is $240 per foursome, which includes a cart, lunch, and goodie bags. The event will help KCC provide sterilization services to stray and feral cats in Kokomo and Howard County, limiting the population of stray animals in the community. Those interested in donating, sponsoring, or playing in this year’s tournament are encouraged to call 765-438-8245, visit www.kokomocommunitycats.org or email KCC_TNR_EVENTS@yahoo.com.

Rhumfest

Rhumfest, a day of live music highlighting the talented students and instructors from the Rhum Academy of Music, will take place on Sat., July 27, from 2-8 p.m. in Foster Park at the Performing Arts Pavilion. Free admission. To learn more, visit www.rhummusic.com.

Brews on Buckeye

Enjoy Indiana craft beer and spirits, food vendors, live music and more at the annual Brews on Buckeye, taking place in the 500 block of North Buckeye Street in downtown Kokomo. Shark Camp

Go Wild Outside with the Kokomo Howard County Public Library on Mon., July 29, from 10-11 a.m. Taking place at the library’s Russiaville branch, 305 Mesa Dr., each camp combines outdoor play, exploration, and hands-on activities, ensuring children have ample opportunities to develop their problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. This event is designed for children ages 0-5.

Glamour for Good Fashion Show

Northview Church will hold a Glamour for Good Fashion Show to benefit the Kokomo Rescue Mission on Fri., Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. at Northview’s Kokomo campus, 3409 S, CR 200 W. Tickets go on sale Aug. 1 and will be available for $30 at the Kokomo Rescue Mission’s Care and Share Store. Online pre-sale tickets will be $40, and tickets jump to $50 on the day of the event.
